1. For GEN 3 AMC engines from late 1970-1991
2. This kit is designed for use with a Sanden 709 Double V-belt compressor, such as Vintage Air part number 04709-VUA (standard finish), 04709-VUQ (polished finish) or 047090 (chrome finish). NOTE: 508 compressors will not fit due to interference with engine head.
3. This kit was developed on a 1978 Wagoneer Custom 360 2BBL.
4. This kit is designed to be compatible with Jeep SJ/J series vehicles equipped with the AMC 360 V8 engine with factory/dealer installed AC. It may be compatible with other models and configurations but fitment cannot be guaranteed.
5. This kit is fixed position and designed to tension the V-belts using the OEM alternator bracket.
6. The compressor grounds through the bracket and into the engine, therefore, it is important to have a good ground connection. If painted, paint should be removed in the areas where the bracket mounts to the engine and where the compressor mounts to the bracket. A separate ground wire may also be run to ensure ground continuity.
7. Vintage Air’s SureFit system requires a minimum 60-amp alternator and recommends upgrading to a 100-amp 10si or 12si alternator such as Vintage Air part number 09100-VUA. The OEM alternator may work with the SureFit system, but additional accessories will require additional amperage. Evaluating system requirements and rewiring for higher amperage alternators (using 8 AWG wire) is the sole responsibility of the customer.
8. This bracket kit requires a GM/Delco style alternator with 2-groove pulley such as Vintage Air part number 73900-ACP. These pulleys are usually interchangeable. If your vehicle is equipped with an alternator manufactured by Ford, it will need to be replaced with a GM style for correct alignment and output. Due to the internal voltage regulation and higher output, some rewiring may be required (See note above).
